About 8 years ago, my employer at the time had cut my hours to part time after I'd been with them about 13 years. At the time, I didn't have even my associates degree but did have quite a few classes under my belt. I had seen a flyer at the college listing wages with various degrees and saw that in my field I was already at the top of the scale WITHOUT a degree. With the economy going in the crapper and me only working part time, it was an eye opener that I'd better get my butt in gear and finish my education... no more playin' around. I finished two associates degrees and went on to get my bachelors. Meantime, my employer was merged into a larger firm and I was told on more than one occasion how great of an opportunity it would be for me since I was finishing my bachelors. I gave them a year more after I graduated - nothing ever happened. After 5 interviews on two different application processes, I finally landed a full time job 45 minutes from home. The first interview process, I was two classes from getting my degree. After I was hired, they told me they wouldn't hire anyone without a degree. I thought WOW - I'm the same person with the same employment experience! It was one of the best places I've ever worked at, though. Hang in there. Get your degree. I ended up taking out student loans to finish my bachelors, but it has been worth it. Btw, I have 25 years experience in my field and have only had my bachelors for 6 years now. Hang in there!

Now... your stitching finishes are awesome. I love the framing and that you've been repurposing quite a bit. I love doing that.

Mearihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18080474930910254503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6924621096965645787.post-27362060645982400432017-03-30T09:23:54.106-07:002017-03-30T09:23:54.106-07:00Wow, you have been so busy. I have been dispatching for 14 years now and worry what will happen when I get a little older and my speed and my hearing aren't what they used to be. I loved all your finishes, but must say Bothy Threads Tea Party is my favorite, the fabric you chose is so pretty against the black. Reading this I wanted to share a quote/poem that often plays in my head when I find myself worried. It's by Maria Rilke: “Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.” I hope things come together for you soon, but for now be patient with yourself!blue star stitcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13624181391967009424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6924621096965645787.post-63978647740576029412017-03-29T03:05:55.234-07:002017-03-29T03:05:55.234-07:00It is so nice to read you again!

I wish I had my head screwed on right when I was younger and took care of this school thing. Nice finishes as always and your husband is quite the framer! I've seen that Linen and Threads in all sorts of colors but I like your choice. That's funny about the snail! Yup, people do like you! Don't stay away too long now.Shellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18279865400359226554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6924621096965645787.post-91329608914460608262017-03-28T19:41:25.097-07:002017-03-28T19:41:25.097-07:00So great to see your blog post Jamie, as you know ...So great to see your blog post Jamie, as you know I'm still awol!!I was totally impressed with all the stitching. You have accomplished a great deal. Scott's framing is awesome. As for you feelings, I hope school will help. From the little I know of you from the blog, you are a very nice and special person. I think winter in the NW plays with your head a bit. Our cherry trees aren't even blooming yet. Plus I feel cold all the time and that is so rare for me. I enjoyed the Vegas photos. That's a place I have never visited. Your pictures make it look like a fun place. Kids can add stress. I now live about 1/2 hour from my DD. I used to hear from her more often when we lived in Louisville-go figure! Well take care maybe you have inspired me. I just finished those houses so a post is due!Barbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16292519625560497199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6924621096965645787.post-2610635580888148552017-03-28T14:06:21.998-07:002017-03-28T14:06:21.998-07:00Great catch up post, my dear.
