Fun weekend

Hello -
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I sure did!! Friday I went to a stitching shop!!! My friend Joanie found it and got me a gift card there - before I moved here!!

It's a lovely shop - they have cross stitch and also painted canvas supplies. Four rooms worth - nice!! I didn't buy anything this time because I have those darn sheep to finish but I will be back!!
Friday night we ate at Zydeco's - wonderful Cajun food in Mooresville IN. My favorite thing is the appetizer BBQ Shrimps Boutte - o..m..g fantastic!! Next time I am ordering it for my meal!!  We drank hurricanes - category 5!! It was a fabulous evening!! There is a site that lists the diners by state if you want to see if there are any in your town. It's fun to go and most of them are worth it!! Flavortown - there is the link.

a few months ago Scott and I painted shells for this wall. It's not done yet and you can still go paint shells!!

Scott got the Barrone shrimp - I didn't like it but my dish was creamy and fantastic!! Love this place!!
We drove around and looked at some houses. We saw a few fireflies - love love love those!!  
Saturday we had some errands to run - got those out of the way. We went to Midland Antique Mall Scott went there before I got here and saw a hotel mail sorter that he really wanted - it was gone, he was sad. I told him once we find our house we can go pick out stuff that will go perfectly in each room! Ohhh fun!!
We ate lunch at Shapiro's  We shared a Reuben, mac and cheese and a potato pancake - fabulous food. We got some bagels for Sunday morning. Boy, those were good. They make really good food!
Sunday we spend the day at Crown Hill Cemetery - this place is in the tourist guide - take a picnic and go to Crown Hill - I'm serious!

The food was really good here!! Scott got a shirt - he always does but this one has the "guy-feeti" (like graffiti) the spray paint picture of Guy's head - cool!
Someone turned us on the the fact that there is a "canal walk" in Indianapolis. We went over to check it out but it was 8pm on a Sunday so we didn't get to walk it - or boat it. We will though - super excited about it!!

 They also have multiple person bikes you can rent - you sit in it like a car and peddle - Visit Indy check that  out!! The canal walk is 3 miles long - it bankrupted the city in 1841! Here is the history if you are interested - Indy Canal. Very cool and I can not wait to walk it and boat it!!
That was our weekend. It was my first full one here with Scott and I had a great time!! There are so many neat things here to see!

a half a finish

Hello,
I finished the stitching on the Pin Wheel Kit for The Purple Thread that I mentioned in a post or two ago. It's also small but I didn't put a quarter near it Ha!

Once you get 4 rows from the end you fold them together and stitch through the two layers - joining the ends. Wow that was a challenge.

I'm not sure if I did it right since there is an obvious line there. Of course I made a stitching error that I didn't notice until I had considered it done - so I had to take three rows out and restitch it! I can't finish it all the way. My supplies are packed is the main reason. I could go buy some fiber fill to finish it but..... this apartment smells so much like a wet full ashtray that when you leave - YOU smell like you've been smoking. I am keeping all my threads (except the ones I'm currently using) fabric and patterns in a basket in my car. I used vinegar water and mopped the walls and the floors. I sprayed unscented Febreeze on everything - window trim, doors, walls, floors - everything!! I thought Scott was crazy when he called it "the ashtray" but the fist time he came to visit me - I had to wash everything in his luggage. He brought pillows the first time - they seriously smell like someone was smoking in a closed room with the pillows. It's a monster. The apartment has new paint, carpets and cabinet doors. He complained to the management and they came and deodorized the new carpet - brilliant! I hope to be out of here soon!
Speaking of out of here.... the people buying out house - loan fell through. GRRRR They still want to try to get the house so they are trying for a new loan - last chance. If this one falls through it goes back on the market. It was suppose to close July 26 - how irritating. I'm sure they are frustrated as well since they put their kids in the local school but don't live locally!
Now back to Simplicity sheep - I just got Patience sheep and have Courage sheep to do. I will be caught up then - wont finish them until later though. That gives me more time to see how other people finish them. I did mine on 28 count so they are a little bigger.

Diners - mmmm

Hello -
We've been to several diners lately. I did not post any of the ones Scott went to by himself - grrrr and they wont be added to the "DDD" page on my blog. I will show you pictures of ones I went to without him - but they wont be added to the "DDD" page either!!
I went to the Bagel Deli with my mom. Scott and I had eaten there together several times so it's already on the list. They have a knish that will make you wanna smack yer momma!! I was nice enough to bring home some frozen knishes for Scott when he would be home again - they were wonderful.
I may have mentioned that Ryder wanted to go look at an art school in Santa Fe NM - the weekend before I moved to Indiana - I'm not sayin' nothin' - except grrrrr! We had good weather for the trip.

The road to New Mexico

Our hotel was nice. Here is a side story... when I went to see my family in Grand Junction a few months back my Aunt had Crabtree & Evelyn - Honey and Coriander hand cream which I LOVED. She said she knew a store we could get it. A .9 oz tube was $7 (yikes!!) but someone had tested them all so they gave them to me - BOGO! I got 4 tubes. So Ryder and I get to our hotel and they have this exact brand and scent as the free ones in your room - I have a large ziploc bag full now - WOO HOO

The next day we toured the school - Ryder loved it!! They have great equipment, not too many students and are even filming a show there "Longmire" He will be starting in August. He is getting a double major - film and digital arts! 

It rained the rest of the time - torrential downpour to be exact, so there was no letterboxing. Ryder really wanted to go back to the hotel and work on his portfolio anyway. We ate dinner at Zia Diner. It was so expensive - two pops and two burgers $40 - and not great burgers - just average. Scott and I had eaten there before it was on DDD  - key word is BEFORE so it is not on the list. We did not eat what Guy had - probably should have.

The next morning we ate at Harry's Roadhouse  - Scott and I had eaten there already. Ryder ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and I got a breakfast burrito - Christmas style (half red chili half green mmmm)

Then we went back to Longmont - whirlwind trip. Yes, I am driving while taking pictures - the boy slept all the way up and all the way back - perfectly boring.

Since I have been in Indiana we have eaten at The Tamale Place twice - it is FANTASTIC!!! The tamales are huge!! There is a board next to the register where they write down what tamales they have for the day - when you order one they mark it off. Once they are gone - they are gone. The last time we went there they only had 4 kinds left - just squeaked in!! They have wonderful combos - bean and cheese sounds pretty plain but it was amazing!! The salsa is made with roasted veggies - WOW!!! Steak tacos are awesome - served with onions, cilantro and lime. I love this place!!

They even have dessert tamales - they didn't have any left the first time - second time they only had pineapple raisin which was OK but I really want to try the pumpkin one!!
** A quick note about my birthday... My wonderful husband had a cake delivered to the police department at the start of my shift. This was made by Susan's Bakery

My wonderful mother - despite being sick - was going to surprise me with cake but showed up at the wrong time she thought I worked 6pm-8am but I worked 8pm -6am. So she took me to dinner as well!! So sweet!!

My co-workers got me an ice cream cake for my birthday/last day. EOW means End of Watch a police term for the end of your shift. They also had a potato bar for me that night - delicious!

I feel loved  - I appreciate that my family and friends thought of me!! 
That's it - I know long post but I have been missing for awhile!!

I ain't lyin' - it's little!!
I finished Honey Bunny by Just Nan. See the little bee charm? Boy are those hard to find!! I got one with the kit but of course I had to make more than one!!I wanted to give one to Sharon and Jessica as a reminder of our fun trip to Wyoming!! I juuust got them done before we left.

I also made the Needle Tweets by Just Nan I can't find the pattern on their website - so here is a place to buy them so you can see all three colors. They are sold out of the yellow but they have the other two. I love these!! I used different buttons for the eyes - and since I made more than the kit I used different colors inside - I used felt instead of wool. I also used a different color crystal  - it's also slightly larger.

In the box with my marshmellow soft lips and the buttons and thread for the next three little sheep - but I'm working on something else first The Purple Thread PinWheel  I would never have known about this pattern, but one of my magazines ran a story on her (either Cross Stitch and Needlework or Just Cross Stitch) - featured artist. The pattern is super hard to find unless you know the exact name- but you can use the link. She has a blog but didn't mention her feature or any of her patterns - really only posts sporadically. If a magazine did a feature article on me I would be screaming about it from the rooftops - are you kidding!?!? What an honor!! Anywhooo, I got my kit from The Stitching Shop  I asked Christine about it and she found and ordered it for me. It comes with a penny - guess there is a story about that. Something about if you give someone a pin cushion with a penny in it the sharp things wont sever your friendship - I love those funny stories.

I am currently waiting for the second part to the mystery sampler by Little House Needleworks and the Patience sheep - also Little House Needleworks. If you have Facebook - Norden Crafts has a great page - they give away patterns every day. I was irritated with them though, because they revealed the mystery sampler - all three parts. UGH!!I don't even have part two yet and it's no longer a mystery, Plus, I have to say I was so excited about doing this but the whole picture isn't as cute as I thought it would be. Bummer. Guess I will wait until the big reveal to spend so much money next time. (My husband will be happy to see that)
