Glendon Place - Tiramisu |
This weekend we went to the company picnic. It was at Oaks Park an amusement park in Portland. It was fun - I got to meet more of Scott's new co-workers. We played mini golf - Scott won, I demanded a recount but since he kept score....... The Portland Dahlia Society was having a show - wow!!
pictures don't do them justice - some of those flowers are amazing!! There was this cute little church right before the entrance to the park .
I'm not sure if I ever mentioned that I don't like pork roast - ew so gross. I still decided to make the kalua pork from Nomnompaleo because I wanted to use the instant pot I bought (lame excuse I know) but my boys like pork so I was safe. The original recipe is for a slow cooker so that recipe is there too if you don't have an instant pot. It only has a few ingredients and it was so good. I can't wait to make it again!! Next time I am cooking the cabbage for 3 minutes and I am going to make two heads. I did 4 minutes and it was too mushy and one head was just not enough! I even enjoyed the leftovers - I am not a fan of reheated meat! I have made three of her recipes - kalua pig, cracklin chicken and bacon burgers and every one has been fabulous!! I am going to have to get her book!
We went to the waterfront in Portland
just after the sun went down - it was still in the upper 80's blah - but very pretty!! I found another Vancouver rock - Scott found two others but we didn't pick them up!
I have an appointment this week at a college - I am anxious about it. I hope all my credits transfer.
Ok, I'm off to stitch. It's almost September people!! I am ready for pumpkins and fall colors!!
HAAAAA |
Sounds like you are making a great adjustment to Portland. Dahlias do grow very well up here. I hope the heat is gone. Our weatherman says it rarely gets over 80 once Sept. is here. Let's hope! Your finish is beautiful. I don't think I would have patience for all those beads!
ReplyDeleteWhat am I missing? Cabbage? Don't see it in the recipe. What's different about that salt? And what the hell is an instant pot? I guess Google and I will be spending time together.
ReplyDeleteOh I see. The new term for the old pressure cooker is instant pot. But it's a pressure cooker.
ReplyDeleteOh rats I posted the slow cooker recipe not the instant pot recipe http://nomnompaleo.com/post/111934821818/pressure-cooker-kalua-pig
ReplyDeleteInstant pot is a pressure cooker - I've made steel cut oats, rice, roast beef and pork in it. It's all the rage right now!! I know nothing about the salt except the last time I bought pink salt it wasn't salty. I just used regular salt!
Congrats on finishing Glendon Place! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're taking in all the sights in your new home! I love Portland (but glad I live in Kennewick)! :)
Great finish! I have Red Velvet Cake kitted and ready to go but maybe in 2017 I'll tackle it. Looks like you're getting comfortable, well, except for the temps, in your new city. Crossing fingers things go right!
ReplyDeleteMy sister entered 22 blooms in the dahlia show and came away with several ribbons.
ReplyDeleteHope you get settled soon.
ReplyDeleteTiramisu is so pretty.
That's a LOT of beads!
Glad you are having fun with your Instant Pot.

Oh my goodness! Sounds like you're having a fabulous time and I love all your pictures. You finished piece is beautiful. I have worked with a few pieces that had just a few beads. Can't imagine one with as many beads as yours. It's a beautiful piece and you did a great job.

ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see the pork, LOL. I've not cooked with an instant pot. Is it the same as an electric pressure cooker?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your finish. Hope your credits transferred.
